Since early 2020, homes have finally been getting the attention they deserve. Of course, this was inevitable – as more people have been working from home and generally spending more time there whilst the world battles COVID-19. This has caused them to look at some of their design features and think: “It’s time for a change.”
2021 is shaping to be one of the best years for DIY at home ever – so here are some smart ideas for you to try. Even better, they are budget friendly!
1. Add some fresh paint to the walls
Adding fresh paint to the walls is a classic, smart DIY idea that can be done by beginners and experts. The chances are most of the rooms in your home have had the same paint for at least 3 or 4 years. If this is true, it is time to find the right color scheme for your walls – be it the kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom – and get to work.
Whether you are using a brush or a sprayer, you need to keep your eyes protected with goggles whilst painting – Tradefix Direct can provide you with them. They also have plenty of other DIY equipment to help you, too.
2. Turn your spare drawer into a home for plan
Every home around the world has at least one drawer that is sitting there collecting dust. Maybe it has a couple of old clothing items in it, or picture frames that are no longer used. Whatever the case may be, it is time to turn your drawer (or drawers) into a cool, little DIY project for the weekend (that doesnot require professional help).
You will be happy to know there are plenty of ways you can customize your spare drawer. One of the most creative ways to do this is by turning it into a home for plants. Here is how to do it:
- Ensure your drawer is strong and stable (you donot want it to collapse and cause your plants and soil to go everywhere)
- Remove any paint if there is any on the drawer
- Add the right amount of soil for your sized drawer (donot fill it to the very top)
- Plant your seeds or plants
Remember, it is your choice where your plant drawer goes – but it is recommended that you put it in the garden or backyard outside. Make sure to blend it in with your other garden furniture so it looks natural and not like it has been accidently left outside.
3.Create a bookshelf
Bookshelves are awonderful feature for any home – and creating them yourself adds that extra touch of magic.
Now, you can make a bookshelf any size you want. It is entirely dependent on your preference. If you are an avid book reader, then you will probably want to make it a big one.
In addition to being a home for your books, bookshelves are also a neat location to place your small technology items, such as phone chargers and speakers. This way, they will never get misplaced again!
